How We Test

The Reality of Local SEO Testing

Most local SEO advice is theoretical garbage. We test everything on live client profiles before we publish a single word. The local map pack is ruthless. You either show up in the top three, or you do not exist to the customer. We built this review process to separate actual ranking signals from agency noise.

We refuse to aggregate software reviews from other sites. We deploy tools, tactics, and citation services on real Google Business Profiles. We measure the proximity shift. We track the phone calls. We document the grid movement.

Three months of testing. Zero shortcuts. Real results.

How We Select Tools and Tactics

We ignore vendor pitches. We select software and strategies based on actual friction in the local SEO trenches. If a tool claims to automate NAP consistency across 50 directories, we buy a license. If a new service promises to optimize GBP Q&A sections to capture featured snippets, we put it in the queue.

We focus strictly on map pack visibility, review velocity, and citation management. If a product does not directly impact a local business’s ability to generate inbound calls or foot traffic, we skip it. We look for tools that solve the specific, annoying problems agency operators face daily.

Our Evaluation Framework

We do not care about a tool’s dashboard aesthetics. We care about grid movement. When we evaluate a local SEO booster or GMB software, we track three hard metrics.

  • Proximity Expansion: Does this strategy actually push rankings beyond the business’s physical zip code? We measure grid tracking changes across a 5-mile radius before and after implementation.
  • Indexation Speed: How fast does Google pick up the changes? We track the lag between publishing a GMB post or updating a service menu and the moment it impacts local search results.
  • Suspension Risk: This is the dealbreaker. We push tactics to the edge on burner profiles. If a tool triggers a hard suspension or a video verification loop, we flag it immediately.

The 90-Day Rule

Local SEO does not happen overnight. Anyone claiming a 48-hour map pack takeover is lying to you. We apply a strict 90-day testing window for every strategy and software suite we review.

We spend thirty days implementing the tool and waiting for Google to index the changes. We spend the next sixty days watching the algorithm react, settle, and stabilize. We track the baseline metrics before we touch anything. We pull the final data three months later.

Short-term spikes mean nothing if the profile drops a week later. We only report on tactics that hold their ground.

What We Refuse to Cover

Trust requires strict boundaries. We draw a hard line on tactics that risk permanent domain or profile bans. We will never review or recommend the following categories.

  • Fake Review Generators: We never test software that fabricates customer reviews. The FTC fines are real. The Google penalties are permanent.
  • Keyword Stuffing Automation: Tools that aggressively spam business names with location modifiers get ignored. This tactic works until a competitor reports you, resulting in an instant suspension.
  • PBN Citation Networks: We stick to legitimate data aggregators and tier-one directories. We reject private blog networks disguised as local citations.

Who Runs the Tests

Sagor Paul leads every evaluation. He is a Local SEO and GMB Rank Specialist with deep operational experience managing Google Ads and local profiles for real businesses. He does not write theory. He manages live campaigns.

When Sagor evaluates a citation builder or a rank tracker, he looks at it through the lens of an agency operator who needs to show ROI to an HVAC contractor in Phoenix or a plumber in Chicago. He knows what moves the needle. He knows what wastes budget.

How We Keep Data Current

Google updates its local algorithm constantly. A tactic that dominated the map pack last season often triggers a soft suspension today. We revisit our core reviews every six months to ensure accuracy.

If a major local algorithm update rolls out, we audit our top recommendations within 14 days. We log into the software. We check the live profiles. We verify the rankings.

We update the copy. We adjust the scores. We add warning labels if a previously safe tool becomes a liability. You get the exact data we use to run our own campaigns.
